I have a 1975 454 radiator started leaking today thinking of getting an aluminum one any suggestions
-
why? if you dont have a over heating problem then i dont see the point of aluminum

Search around local radiator shops and just get it repaired. If it's the original steel radiator and it's a small leak then it should be easy to fix, I got mine completely cored and re sealed for pretty cheep and it works great.

Local shop wanted $350 to recore our clogged up 1980 brass & copper rad
$120 for new plastic and aluminum one

I bought a Delphi aluminum/plastic 4 core replacement for my 454.
The Delphi unit is only a 2 row but otherwise is identical to my factory brass unit. The core is still the same thickness, it just uses 2 tubes instead of 4.
The aluminum radiator is about 1/3 the weight of the brass radiator.
I think Autozone, et.al has these for $130~$170.
No more brass radiators for me, thanks. The weight savings alone is reason enough to go the aluminum route.

going with the aluminum weight looks and cooling summers get hot out here and will be towing my ski boat the champion seems decent hopefully the make a shroud for my flex fan like to open hood at the local shows so looks count too
