Title: cross member and Z help
Post by: OneLowOneTon on November 20, 2014, 11:30:40 pm
ok guys i looked through multiple pages and used the search but couldnt really find anything with what i was looking for so my apologies im making a multiple thread.

I am going to be changing my truck this winter, i intend on sectioning the cross member, Z'ing the frame if necessary, and a SFBD.
i will be running 24s and want to move the cross member forward to center the wheels and allow more clearance between the firewall. is there a way to move the cross member forward when sectioning it or what would be the best route to do so?

What's zing the frame and SFBD? You wanna move the crossmember forward but don't wanna move the engine?? The transmission crossmember or the big front girder beam directly below the engine??

Doing a Z on the front frame rails to raise the suspension section of the frame. A SFBD is a Stock Floor Body Drop. I will be sectioning the front cross member to raise it and the control arms, i am trying to figure out if it is possible to move the suspension forward any while sectioning the member. or the best way to do so.

Yes you can do it when sectioning the crossmember, just drill new holes in the frame..  but you will have to make new motor mount locations or new mounts.
LTZ C20 this is a chopped crossmember:  I used to make them many years ago: http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/chopcross.html
