Title: Need help identifing drop
Post by: jay_c on November 30, 2014, 03:21:04 pm
I have an 81 C10 w/ a 350/400 combo. The previous owner of the truck lowered it but I don't know by how much and the last owner claims he doesn't remember. The front has belltech spindles w/ this number stamped on it 134 99. The rear suspension looks completely stock but looks lowered. I have attached a few pics, if any one could help me identify the amount the trucks been dropped and if the back has any lowering components I'd really appropriate it. Thanks in advance.

2.5" front 4/5" rear.  Is the rear axle flipped?

Thanks for your help capt, the back dose not have a flipped axle. Do you think it could have lowering leaf springs?

What woud be your guess on how the rear was lowered? Or could the leaf springs just be worn out.

Sorry, misread that thought it said it did have a flip.  If not flipped it has lowered springs on it.  Mine is like that and has 4" drop leaves.

Thanks again for the help. I want to have a good suspension set up and don't want to cut any corners (little pun there). I'm thinking since the truck already has the 2.5 spindles getting a good pair of 2" springs. For the back Im thinking a new set of leaf springs with a flip kit to get a good 6" drop. Then QA1 shock all around for a good 4.5/6 drop. Does this sound like a good plan or would you have any recommendations?

You could run shackles or hangers to get another 2" out of the back if you like the current ride.  This will save you money on new leafs.  but what you listed will work fine.
