Title: no headlights?
Post by: newmans75-k20 on December 08, 2014, 10:31:06 pm
last year I purchased a 75 k20 which turned out had a cab swap some years back. a kid had had it, he wanted to build a pull truck and just rip the wiring out and all inside componets the original owner had purchased it back and got the light to wprk and truck to start but nothing else was working I had found a 79 in a scrap yard and bought the wire hasness heater core and all in the process of rewiring the truck I had kicked every thing on and now I have no headlights? I replaced the switch thinking maybe it was the issue but I was wrong I have no blown fuses. I have it a snag in the road at this point any help would be great!

Check the fusible links connected to the starter solenoid battery cable stud and the firewall junction block.  Take a look at the 1979 Wiring Manual (http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/7387CKMans//Wiring/ST_352_79_1979_Chevrolet_Light_Truck_Wiring_CK_10_30_Only.pdf) for details.  To replace a fusible link, see How to make a Fusible Link (http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=11972.0) in our Technical Pages.
