Title: Clutch pedal
Post by: dan.mccarthy.7731 on December 26, 2014, 05:57:26 pm
I have a 1980 k20 pick-up 4x4 with a manual trans. Problem is the clutch pedal does not return all the way when released. The return spring on the fork is new, but it seems when you push the pedal down it seem to go off to the left slightly.

What do you mean by all the way?  There should be about 1-2" of play at the top.

Could be worn out at the top pivot
Our was worn beyond any repair

A brake pedal from a automatic has the same top pivot
Just a mirror image

The clutch pedal in mine was two pieces bolted together

We got a brake pedal sawed off the bottom curve
Flipped t over and bolted the bottom half of the old clutch pedal to it

It just seems very hard to find how much free play there really is

It sounds like there may be a lot of wear on the clutch pedal pivot under the dash.  If that is the case, you may be fighting a binding issue with the clutch pedal while trying to feel for free play.
