After reading the section about bouncy speedo needle, I would like to ask for clarification:
The driven gear : is in the speedo ?
THE “SHAFT” OF THE DRIVEN GEAR IS EXCESSIVELY WORN:
THE “SUPPORT BUSHING” FOR THE DRIVEN GEAR IS EXCESSIVELY WORN:
Where would I find parts like this for a speedometer
* WORN OUT PLASTIC DRIVE AND/OR DRIVEN GEAR TEETH:
where would I find parts for the drive assembly? Transmission shop?
STRIPPED CABLE OR DRIVE KEY SOCKET IN THE END OF THE DRIVEN GEAR:
I have pulled the cable out of the housing and rotated it as i was pulling it out. I could feel it hanging up a bit in different places so I cleaned the cable and coated it with copper anti seize and it felt smooth when I put it back in. It fell into place in the trans and the speedo.
It has improved some but the needle holds steady up to the top and as soon as it passes 360 degrees it drops like a hot rock and bounces between there and 70 mph. Past 70 it smooths out again. So I am ready for the next steps in the repair procedures

Driven is in the cover of the trans tailhousing.
Most all of these parts can be had from the dealership.
