Title: door hinge
Post by: 79mc on March 27, 2002, 05:38:00 am
What is the easiest way to remove the bolt that points out on the upper hinge? 87 PU.

Thanks

There is no easy way that i know of.  Take the dash pad off and start disassembling from there.  The drivers side take out the gauge panel and on the passenger side pull the glovebox out.  The bolt head is probably behind a rubber gromet that runs the hot wire for the interior lights down to the door switch.  Also a universal joint comes in really handy.

Thanks alot.I was afraid that might be the case. I wonder why they didn't make it point the same direction as the other two.

Thanks again

One of fords better ideas, they didn't use it. That bolt pionting outwards is a real pain. I have never needed to take the top hinge off except when striping a truck.

I had to adjust both top hinges to get my "new" used doors to line up properly.

I have the same issue with my 77.  I got a new used door and need to adjust it forward to get a little room in the upper rear corner where it is currently rubbing against the cab.  If I loosen the top hinge (including the one pointing outward) will I get the forward adjustment I need?
