I have a 1976 Chevy K10 and I am looking for a set of front tow hooks. It looks like my bumper has a cut out for them and there are some holes on the frame where it looks like they bolt on but I cannot seem to find them online.
-
Any pictures of your bumper?
-
From what I can remember, the tow hooks I used on my '74 K-10 were 'take-offs' from a 88-98 Chevrolet K-series pickup. They bolted in perfectly. I can grab some additional photos if you'd like.
Here is what my setup looks like:

my 91 v3500 look likes what jason has posted also

Good luck finding a OEM set of hooks for the 73-80 trucks. They about as rare as a unicorn and if you find a pair grab em quick!
-
the ones Jason has are exactly like the set i got
(http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mAv_b5dQOudvucX-ABf9q6w.jpg)
only i was told they were from an S10(no idea what year)
and mine had a second part like a backing plate with 2 threaded holes so they "clamp" onto the frame. or sammich the fram between the 2 parts.
they bolted right on my 79 K10
-
The problem with tow hooks like that is they get bolted onto the truck and they are weaker in how they are bolted on than they originally are.
You have more downward and forward motion pulling on those tow hooks than if they were placed sideways like tow hooks on a GMT400 truck.
-
thats true but they are easy to come by and are a good fit. they will get some moderate pulling done
if you are going to be putting some serious stress on them than you should probably be thinking about something else anyway
-
I have a set of these from a truck I found in the junkyard... I would trust them FAR more over the GMT400 ones..

these are about the same size as the ones on mine. along with the hitch receiver

The R/V 1500 suburban I got my grille guard off of at a junk yard had a set of hook that I assume were OEM, they bolted to the frame where the bumper mounts bolted on, and the plastic air dam had two openings for them. Guess I should of grabbed them
-
I have a set of hooks off a 97 tahoe 4wd, they look identical to the ones FlatBlack posted and include the bolts and backing plate he also mentioned. I have not mounted them, just been hangin out in my garage somewhere. I would trust them, they are very strong and if bolts worry you than get some bigger and stronger bolts or weld it to the frame.

Fitz, what are the small squires near the corners of the front and rear bumpers?

Very small lights
For driving in a combat zone
Can't be seen from airplanes

Roundhouse nailed it.
Those are the Military blackout lights.
When turned on they give out just enough light that other trucks in a convoy can see you and hopefully the enemy doesn't.
When you hit 1 switch on the dash all of the civilian "service" lights ( headlights, tailights, brake lights, directionals, etc) and the horn are disabled.
Turn the blackout lights on and your good to go.
-
Oh I get it. That's cool. So you flip the "service lights" toggle down to "blackout on" then you flip the "blackout drive light" toggle to on and then charge forward and bulldoze the enemy!! Haha.

Mine aren't cheap. If you felt them they have some serious weight to them. I dropped it on my fingers and they were sore for awhile.
-
weight has nothing to do with strength

weight has nothing to do with strength
that's my point
China isn't famous for their high quality metal products
Pull one from a wrecked GM or Ford or Dodge
Made in the US and tested to be strong enough
