Title: 85 k10 stepside body to a 78 frame??
Post by: blazer1961 on June 07, 2002, 12:31:00 am
i just bought a 78 4x4 6 foot bed truck for 5 bills, with a rust free frame. i want to put my 85 6 foot stepside body on it. for a frame up restore. the frame on the 85 is going down hill with too much to do to it. but i like the style of the 85 stepside with the quad headlight setup. if anybody has any info on compatibility of these year frames to do what i want to do. this is my first attempt to a restore.

The frames should be the same.  The only difference in the two is the bed style and the front clip.  I would say that the swap will not be a problem at all.

They should drop right on the only differences are the nose, bed, brake line fitting sizes, tranfercase shifter mount, front bumper mounts, small stuff etc.

hey guys thanks for your help and input. just short of dropping a plumbob from the body bolts and matching patterns from truck to truck. i had a 84 k5 blazer that had a 80 205 transfer case in it and the shifter fit right in the hole from the bolt to floor the 208 case has. look for the pic of my black 85 stepside in the visiters pics. thanks again and any other replies welcome.
