Title: Tailgate Window Sticks Halfway
Post by: jrclark32 on January 18, 2015, 11:55:21 am
Hello all,

I have an '86 Suburban with a power window tailgate.  The motor works on both the dash switch and the rear key switch, but it only goes halfway down and stops.  That's enough to get the tailgate open, so I've disassembled the panel, but I don't see that it's catching on anything.

I've searched the forums, and all the problems I see seem to be with the window stuck in one position.  Mine rolls up and down, just not all the way.  Thoughts?

Check the tracks on both sides for binding and check the weatherstripping in the tracks for binding.

That's the issue, rotten weather stripping had wadded all up in the track.  Thanks!

I ripped out the old stuff, and the window goes up and down, but I need to have some sort of padding in those tracks.  Where can you get that thin weatherstripping that was there originally?
