Good idea also, for extra parts. I sometimes go to the yard and look for those "hard to get parts" so they aren't lost forever by the crusher. Hopefully another square body fan can use them and give them a second life.
Your welcome.
I'm fixing to crush a 79 this week
What hard to find parts should I grab?
Frame is broken at RR shock mount
Floor is totally rusted out
I got the gauge cluster , window reg, seat belts , axles and t case, grill and tailgate , clutch and brake pedal assembly
Anything else worth grabbing ?

Any trim that is in good condition, inside and out. If it can be buffed, repainted and cleaned up then it's worth saving. You said your crushing it so it's not like your paying for the parts. They might be worth someone's elbow grease one day, or your own. I hate seeing these old beauties die without a second chance at a new life.

Don't forget to grab the tail and marker lights if they're in good shape. Also glove box door and ashtray.

Anything else worth grabbing ?
A few things to add: A/C or heater controls and cables, factory radio, windshield antenna cable adapter and antenna wire, dash trim, foot parking brake assembly, hood latch, wiper linkage, column

ANYTHING NOT DAMAGED OR MOLESTED.

I'm pulling the door panels gauge cluster
Visors
Window regs and clutch pedal
And grill
THe hood is has no hump in the middle !
But is rusted rusted thru on the front edge so it's no good
One fender was perfect. Grabbed it
Tailgate is pristine Grabbed it
And gonna saw off the rear of the bed and back 6" of the cab for a furniture / art project if I have time
Neighbor went bonkers when I it trailered It home
Called the city. City is on my case since they don't allow non operable vehicles so it's going to the crusher in less than a week
Never been an issue before if the vehicle is on a trailer or under a cover
I had a 66 thunderbird parts car at my house for months
Didn't even have wheels on it
Kept a cover on it and never any problem
