Post by: Nj1986k10 on January 20, 2015, 06:16:10 am

A few members have done it. They used what's referred to as "Duramax mirrors". They are just a very popular style of extendable towing mirrors.  Some installs have been really clean and others a bit crude. You will have to search the site for the install posts. I think some are posted in the "Body" section and other in the "Interior" section. One member used the factory style mirror mounts for our trucks and modified the Duramax mirror to mount to it.

Heres the crude way haha anyone can do this. So easy and I love them. But if you don't need tow mirrors just stay original. JMO

Flips, it was your install I had in mind when I mentioned the crude way lol. I will say tho, your mounting "bracket/slip in piece" was clever and ingenius, just a bit funny looking. At least they still work!

Ya they still work pretty good. I was replacing the dumbo style mirrors that the PO had sheet metal screwed into the doors. Any thing was an improvement over those. Now that I have my truck in the garage Im going to try to improve the way my mirrors are mounted.

So basically you bolt it to the outside plate then the inside plate is a cover piece?
I like the simplicity of this install

I bolted them through both pieces. That's what holds it all together ;D. I never did get around to making a cover plate for the inside.

So one on the outside and one on the inside to squeeze them together?

You got it. On a side note I also used some vent windows that were already shot I put the good set on the shelf.
