I got a factory harness, unmolested, from a junk yard. I got a new factory cargo lamp assembly from one of the larger parts suppliers. And finally I got an NOS cargo lamp switch. That was a search in itself.
After searching for about 2 weeks, I could only find a few used switches on ebay for way more than they are worth. I finally found a company that is a huge gm parts distributor, they didn't have a switch anymore, but they showed 1 place in Indiana that had 1. I contacted that place, they DID have 1 switch, so I got a brand new, NOS cargo lamp switch, in original box, for 18 dollars, that's including shipping to California. The switch is the black 1 with the white letters that mounts in the B-pillar behind the drivers head.
So now what I need is some measurements. If anyone has some extra parts laying around they can measure that would be great. I need to know the dimensions for the hole in the pillar trim for the switch and that hole's position on the trim panel itself.
The second thing I need is the dimensions for the hole in the back of the cab above the window for the cargo light and it's position left-to-right and top-to-bottom in the sheet metal. That way I can put the appropriate holes the the factory locations.
Also, the cargo light kit came with these rubber bushing type things, they have a metal nut molded into them. My guess is that these "bushings" go into a hole in the cab, then the mounting screws go thru the cargo lamp base and into the metal nuts molded into the "bushing". This helps isolate the cargo lamp from vibrations and doesn't let the power short to ground thru the body. Do I have this correct?
Also, no need to take your trucks apart to make these measures, if there are extra parts or an extra cab the members may have with these holes to measure that would be great. This is just a side project so dismantling your trucks isn't required.

Anyway the extra panel has the location of the switch hole molded into the back. So I'm just gonna map that over to my original trim and that will fix that.
Still need the hole for the lamp above the window.

For the external hole, use the gasket for the template. Take a pic of what you have....

Capt, the switch is an NOS OEM part. As mentioned in my first post I found 1 from a dealer in Indiana. Last one they had, in original GM black, white, blue box. Has a date of 1976 on it. Probably the last new one left in the entire country lol.

I am going to put this on my shop truck. I picked it up at a swap meet, don't know what it came off of but it will fit perfectly.

It has a bar code dated 7/31/2007 25821852 but it doesn't have any other markings on the lens.

1 - The above drawing, indicating that the center line of the square hole is on the center line of the cab is WRONG.
The 2 smaller round holes are an equal distance apart, their center line is on the the center line of the cab. The square hole, indicated by the new pictures, is OFFSET to the LEFT slightly.
2 - The sheet metal roof panel meets the sheet metal panel of the rear at the cab, at this meeting place, there is a small "valley" where the 2 sections are mounted together. Any measurements in the pictures that go to this "valley" were measured to the top edge of the ROOF side sheet metal, NOT the rear cab sheet metal or the middle of the "valley".
