Hi everyone. I hope this belongs in this thread, I need some help.. Story goes like this...
Picked up a (rough) running 86 c10 about a week ago, been putting things back together and getting things going smoother with it. Had the day off today so I figured I'll take a bit and change the spark plugs
..well one snapped off at the top of the bolt, the entire ceramic bit came out with it. There is no way to get a socket or anything on it the plug. I have maybe a 1/16 of play to grab the rim of it

I attempted to replicate my problem by knocking out the insides of another plug

Couldnt find my retractors, Attempted to make my own off a broken 3/8 extension..if you can tell it was too soft, chewed it up. I bring this up because I'm now worried about debris inside.
Found a person with a retractor that fit...broke off inside spark plug shell inside vc.

..its late, and I'm finally sitting with a beer in hand..what are my options here ? I hope I gave enough info.
I know now I'm probably susceptilble with debris getting inside at this point...Murphys law. Thanks for reading; if these pictures don't work after all that ^ this 'll be the icing on the cake.

Soak all the head bolts in Silikroil, let sit two days, then pull the head.
Weld a 3/8" or 1/2 piece of steel rod about a foot long to the stub of the plug. Best is something that fits inside the outer ring of the plug. I know you can't get it down inside because of the broken extractor, but that's the size you want to use. Machine a flat on each side of the other end first. Or maybe use like a 6" long 1/2" bolt instead of the rod so you have a hex on the end.
Soak in Silikroil, let sit two days, then clamp the head down and wrench on the rod with an impact wrench. Higher peaks, and lowered stresses.

No problem. And, looking at those pics, I can see that you tried to pull it dry. Not good. You need to start using fluids to loosen things up. PB Blaster is OK. Silikroil is much better. Best of all is a home-made mixture of 50% acetone, 50% ATF, but it's flammable as heck and less convenient than using Silikroil.

Shifty- yes I'm from Tucson but my girlie had us move to new jersey in august 2013 for what she claimed was a short 'visit'. However, I know of them and their work, quality stuff. I always had Vic on speedway fix my problems.
Rich, your absolutely correct about pulling them dry, see 6 of the 8 came off so easily I thought I could of hand turned it, the last two I fought and clearly broke one. I done messed up this time. I'm like beating my head against the wall.. I'll get em wet every time now, thanks again.

Good news...got it out.
Used a diamond tip dremel and hollowed out much of the first retractor. Picked my shavings with a few magnets. I ended up buying a new set, these are things that shouldn't be 'lost' in your work shop.
I asked my neighbor who had lent me the retractor I broke in the plug and he said to me ,"harbor freight". *face+palm*

A good set of twist sockets is a great thing to have in your tool box as well.
