Title: Fender and inner fender question
Post by: datadave49 on February 20, 2015, 08:12:22 am
Hey Hey
What is the difference between the 73-81 fender other then the side marker, and the same question for the inner fender. I am giving up on my 76 cab and going with a 85 but want to keep the 76 grill and fenders.
Thanks
Dave

73-80 and 81-87(91) fenders are completely different.  You cannot use a 76 grill on anything but a 73-80 fender and associated core support.
You can however use 73-80 inner fenders on the 81-87 trucks and gain more tire clearance, but they are different.

Cap?  To use the 76 front end on a 81-87 cab you need to unbolt everything from the cab forward.

To use the 76 front end on a 81-87 cab you need to unbolt everything from the cab forward.
you have to take your cowl off your truck since the 73-80 hoods have their own cowl

You can put a 73~80 front (hood, fenders, radiator support, etc.) on a 81+ cab without mods, but not the other way around.

You will need to swap the wiper transmission assembly along with the complete nose. 81 & newer stick up to high, 73 to 80 hood will clean them right off when it is closed the first time.
