Its a pretty bad rattle. Sometimes it sounds like a loose marble in there, but its not always consistent. It will rattle really bad then sometimes it will quiet down. It changes up from park, drive, and reverse. Reverse makes it rattle the worst. When the engine is still warming up and I've just begun to drive it it makes a different type of horrible noise if I accelerate too hard, but if I let off the gas it stops. After its up to temp the horrible noise goes away. The rear main seal was going, but it was still holding oil alright.

Your flexplate sounds like it is cracked, not an expensive fix if that is all it is.

I think you are right. It's either that or the torque converter. The sound is coming from right there. Thanks.
Any opinions on brands of torque converters and flexplates?

Flexplates generally crack from incorrect transmission mating, bad motor mounts, trans mounts etc. so check them. make sure you properly torque the fasteners. I would recommend replacing the flexplate bolts when you replace it. You can purchase a quality one through the auto parts store or summitracing.

So I got to the point where I'm ready to remove the bellhousing bolts and it looks like some of those are missing! Whoever worked on the transmission previously was pretty dang lazy. Very frustrating.
Anyways, I was going to try slipping in some longer bolt then sliding the whole thing back. And yes, the flexplate was definitely cracked.
