Title: Best k30 1 ton 6 inch lift springs
Post by: Coleman64 on March 15, 2015, 11:38:33 PM
Hey all I'm planing on buying a '90 gmc 3500 crewcab 6.2l diesel with a factory dealer installed turbo with a four speed motor runs great the biggest problem I have with it is the lift. The current owner went and put a 10 inch lift in the front and a 6 inch lift in the back. Guess that's just what the guy had at the time but he modified the hangars too so in the back it's more like 8 inches of lift so I plan on undoing all of what he has done in the back and buy new front 6 inch springs. My question is what are the best riding/ softest riding springs I can get separate from the rears or kit for the best value.

I have a 4" Skyjacker all spring lift on two of my K30's and I am very happy with the ride. I have tried Rough Country but they ride like the name states, very stiff. The smallest dips and bumps in the road felt like speed bumps. I am very pleased with the Skyjacker ride and performance though I do not do much off road. I don't know if the 6" would be as soft but would not hesitate to try. Just my opinion. Have fun.

Skyjacker x3 also make sure all bushings and suspension bolts are lubed and not seized it's critical to good articulation.

Got mine from summit. Didn't get rears yet just wanted to confirm height as I converted from 2wd. Gonna skip blocks this time & go all spring.

when you lift a k20 the steering arm has to be changed to make up for the lift. so im assuming with a dana 60 you have to do something with the steering

ahh bump steer, I got used to it with a 4" lift on the old truck wasn't that bad. However on this one I got a dropped pitman. Also draglinks are available with offsets in them. Or I have heard crossover is really the way to go. Back in the day guys used to get the steering arm cherry red & jack up the truck under them to bend them lol.

Hey new update just got the truck and found out that the rear springs are totally different springs than the basic k30 they are 52 not 56 inch long the guy I bought it from moved the hangars down and forward. I'm left with either moving them back and down and getting the right springs or getting longer shackles to achive the height that I want. Anybody know where I can buy a set of new 2 inch longer rear shackles?
