I have a 85 with 77 body crew cab 4wd 1/2 ton. It's kind of a mix. Lol. Anyway I need leaf spring hangers for the front of the rear leaf springs. Can't find them anywhere? Any ideas?
-
1/2T with a crew cab body, as in a Long bed 4wd 1/2T frame? A salvage yard is an option and they would be cheap.
-
Started life as a 2wd diesel 1 ton. Searched my local yards. All I found also rusted through.
-
so you are sitting on a 1 ton frame with ½ ton axles?
-
It was. I didn't build the truck originally. I bought a 14 bolt full floater and a Dana 44 today to swap in. Not going to see much gnarly off road so they should do me fine
-
the springs will work no matter what size. they all use the same widths some use different lengths but if all your swapping is the axles then you dont have to worry about anything
-
If you think 1/2 axles were bad you should see the rest. It's lifted on 38s with half ton axles. And they made their own springs out of whatever springs they found. So not one spring pack is the same. I don't know what they were thinking. Spent big money certain places then rigged it other places.
-
I know they are the same. That isn't the concern with mine. My concern is they are like Swiss cheese and now with real lift the 2wd hangers make the back end almost 2 inches shorter cause I didn't notice.
-
ok i gotcha. my buddy is building his crew cab kind of the same as how yours started a 2wd. he made his own front hangars and has some box tubing running between them as a cross member. i know i took a picture before but it was a while ago
-
you kind kind of see it here

Front of the REAR leaf springs. Lol. My fronts all good.
-
wow totally missed that sorry lol. but theres no such thing as 2wd hangers for the front cause 2wd will have coil springs. think hangars are for the front style while shackles are the rear. you can buy aftermarket shackles with a couple different holes so you can lift the truck also a parts stores.

Still don't think you get what I'm saying Irish. The springs for the rear end! There's a shackle in the back of the spring and a hanger in the front of the spring. All my hangers were rusted. I did a shackle flip to fix the back ones and get lift. The FRONT hanger for the REAR leaf spring I still need the hangers.
-
If I remember correctly, there were 2wd and 4wd versions of the front of rear spring hanger.
This one is listed on eBay right now...

You may also be able to adapt a later model spring hanger, as long as the spring widths match the hanger. If nothing else, a replacement hanger could be fabricated.

Lot of work to remove em
So most go to the crusher with the frame
Look around on ColoradoK5.com
And I think BDS makes hangers as well
We just sent a frame to the crusher with springs still on it

I missed the same thing when I converted mine also & the 4wd ones were already gone so I morphed two 2wd together to get the correct distance & put a diamond gusset on just because.

lol i must of been real tired. not once but twice on the same post sorry bout that.
there is a differance in the 4x4 vs 4x2 in the hangers(½ and ¾ton). i know 1 tons are bigger because the frame size difference

Lol it's fine. Hope I didn't come across as rude. Was just trying to be clear. I don't even have 2wd ones to morph. I have broken pieces of rust. Lol
-
na you didnt come across as rude. i came across as a slow person lol, dont know why but i kept missing the whole rear part all i kept seeing was front my eyes were playing jokes on me
-
The 4wd also has an additional bracket
-
The bracket on the bottom of the frame? I have those
