Hopefully whoever is reading this can help me. So one day I was driving and i was in 3rd gear and it slipped out and when it did the shifter went flying. However it was working and shifting fine until a friend told me to remove the boot and re-position the shifter and stick the pins back into proper place. Well i removed the boot and noticed the pins were barely in. I got them line up with whatever hole i could see and put both pins in and now my shifter is stuck. Should i pulls the pins again and see if i can get them line up perfectly so they shift?

i just gonna buy a nv4500 transmission new and have a custom shop install...i would ask my grandpa to help but since he had a stroke a few years back he hasnt been able to work on cars

Looks like either the roll pins on both sides are broken kr not seated down in far enough
The round bell on top has a spring It's gotta be pushed down and turned clockwise to hold it all down
Very hard to do unless you use a towel or something to get traction on the top while you push down and turn
Post up a pic of the bottom of the shifter showing the roll
Pins and another of the Trans showing the slots the pins slide into
Maybe an experienced eye on here will be able to see something wrong

so these pics are showing the pins fully in... when they are like this i cant move my shifter at all...i wiggled the pins out a lil bit cuz thats the only way i could get them to come out...anyways i pulled the pins and put them in only 3/4 of the way and it works fine now. i think i might leave it like this because i wanted to buy a new nv4500 5 speed to throw in this truck...

So I came back to this problem the shifter will not shift unless the pins are at least halfway out any reason to why?

Pull the shifter out and see where they are hitting causing it to bind
