Title: mounting an 87 front clip to a 75 chevy truck
Post by: johnboy3927 on April 10, 2015, 08:50:49 pm
I am curious if there are any fitment issues to put an 87 front end on a 75 cab and truck. Also will I have to change crossmember if I use the 700r4 out of my 87 because I like having an overdrive tranny. Any tips or help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Basically swap the entire front clip

Read this.  It is not a direct bolt on.   You will need the complete front clip with radiator support and you will need the wiper system and cowl panel from the donor.  Holes will have to be drilled and slots make for the hinges.

for the 700R4, just move the existing crossmember back.

I have the entire donor truck. My father in law told me he tried it and the body lines didn't match up and the cowl wouldn't fit. What slots would I need to cut?

You will have to use the core support and fender wells that goes with the 87 clip. Everything else will matchup.the bumper is different too, that is a personal preference to change that though.
