Hey Guys,
New guy here. Just picked up a '79 c10, with the 4.1 inline six with a three on the tree. Bought it from the original owner and it has 141k on the clock. Over all its a solid truck but needs some body and mechanical work done to it.
Oh, and I live in Virginia.
I do have a quick question too. Albeit I have yet to do a search the site on it but my truck seems to have an issue with the shift linkage as it will not always engage every gear. I am pretty sure the linkage is just worn out and "sloppy" by looking at it. I have surfed around looking for new linkage but I don't think such a thing exists. Is there a remedy or an aftermarket product available?
Thanks,
Scott

Welcome from NW Indiana, you have the answer in your first post...
For reference, something like the following but new of course.

You probably just need new bushings
At the Column under te hood. Where the arms that come
Out of the Colum connect to the linkage there is supposed to be a plastic grommet bushing
Same at the Trans
Also I don't know on a square body Chevy but on old fords there is a small hole in the center of each arm
You chock the wheels put the shifter in N
Loosen the adjustment on the Trans levers
Slide a drill bit thru both holes on the arms under the hood
Then re tighten the adjustment nuts on the Trans arms
Usually replacing the bushings and adjusting the arms with the drill bit will cure 90% of your problems

Thanks for the replies.
Are the plastic bushings still available? I am trying to keep it 100% original as possible.
Is there by chance an online microfiche source?
Thanks!

Sorry, one more question...... the shift pattern.
It is: Towards you and up for Reverse
Towards you and down for 1st
Away from you and up is 2nd
Away from you and down is 3rd
Correct?
