First, an introduction: I recently purchased a 1978 K20. As best I can tell from crawling around and underneath, it has a 14 bolt, NP 205 transfer case, and a 400 transmission. According to the VIN it was originally equipped with a 350, but the PO told me it now has a 454. I have tried to confirm this by contorting myself with a mirror to see the block casting number, but no luck. It's clearly bigger than a 350.
This is my first experience with a big American truck. (I drive something from Bavaria that's too technologically advanced to attempt anything more that an appointment with a computer.) I have learned a great deal from this site, from reading the GM Service Manual, and hunting for answers on the Internet. I'm now (I think) ready to ask a question.
I want to delete the cruise control. It doesn't work and this is a feature that I have never used on any car--I just don't think it's necessary or convenient. Also, in this case, it's a distracting mess under the hood.
Question: Assuming I cap off the vacuum at the intake, are there any issues? I plan to install a slightly longer speedometer cable directly from the transfer case to the gauge. Thanks!

Yes, cap the vacuum line and delete the rest. Get a cable for non-cruise and you're good to go. Welcome to the site BTW
