I figured I'd post a little of what I've been doing the past year or so. I just graduated high school, so a lot of this was part of my senior project.work on my truck and get credit for it? heck yes! Haha
Well one thing I did was get some seats from a 2nd gen Cummins from the junkyard. Scored em for $60 ;D both driver and passenger seats individual slide and recline. And then I have the center console fold down. In these small cabs I was surprised to see I gained more room behind and below these new seats.(http://i1027.photobucket.com/albums/y340/hillbillydrumwork/20150709_142202_zpssqay6rgi.jpg) (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/hillbillydrumwork/media/20150709_142202_zpssqay6rgi.jpg.html)

I also started the task of recreating the whole plastic bezel out of mahogany.
Waaay too much work. If I knew it was going to be anything near this, I never would have attempted. But I'm getting there. Lots of math and angles and hours and hours of machining(http://i1027.photobucket.com/albums/y340/hillbillydrumwork/20150319_122134_zpszwjh4lxc.jpg) (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/hillbillydrumwork/media/20150319_122134_zpszwjh4lxc.jpg.html)(http://i1027.photobucket.com/albums/y340/hillbillydrumwork/20150629_091432_zpskvlssocv.jpg) (http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/hillbillydrumwork/media/20150629_091432_zpskvlssocv.jpg.html)(http://i1027.photobucket.com/albums/y340/hillbillydrumwork/20150413_151830_zpsxnraklof.jpg)[/URL[URL=http://s1027.photobucket.com/user/hillbillydrumwork/media/758b087c-0b78-4a60-9aac-a43ac914991f_zpsuazqhz4p.jpg.html]
Yesterday I started to try and open the gauge holes up to a wider anger. Much easier said than done. Holes are drilled on a 16° angle, piece has to sit flat . tilt the mill to 16° also. Hold the piece by hand and try to go little by little around each hole. Quite an intriguing endeavor. I'm looking forward to your progress.

That's really cool. I've had plans to machine a new bezel myself but haven't gotten around to it yet. I can't decide between making a wood dash like you have but utilizing it as a mold or attempting to machine it out of plastic. I like your progress so far, I've subscribed!

I'm probably 50+ hours into it. And still not done. I'm learning a lot with every step and task. But I honestly would never recommend the project to anyone.

I made a mount for it. I rooted the very bottom of the old seat's mounts. Just the piece of metal that bolts to the cab. Then I made a rectangular frame for the seats. Once I got the seats on the frame, I set that on the mounts inside the cab. Then marked where I want them to meet. Took em out. Welded em. And that was it.

How are those seats for legroom compared to say a bench seat? It looks like it sits a bit more forward.

Both the drivers and passenger still slide forward and back. But in addition, it's also taller than my bench was. I'm 6' 1" and i love it. I have lots of leg room.
