The real question what is the purpose of you truck? That will define what you would need more.

its a pickup ill use it yo move around a 4 wheeler or dirt, but mostly just empty. I want to be able to go fast though, i might only have it built to 300 hp

Build for torque if you want to go fast. Your truck is a heavy pig... Torque = movement.
