Title: intake/carb help

Hey all I just got a 1985 c10 Silverado with a 305 hooked up to a th350. When I start my truck up it likes to spit and sputter and when I give a bit of gas it likes to cut out and die on me even after the truck is warmed up. So I opened the hood and saw that the people who had it before put a highrise edlebroke intake and a holly double pumper which iv been told thats to much for a stock 305. What would be best for mento replace both of those with?

What intake are you running? If its a performer that will be fine. And what model of double pumper? If its a 600cfm it will also be fine.

I guess it isnt a high rise intake. But this is the carb idk what cfm it is they wrote 750 on the back so im not sure.

Give the engine a thorough tune up and it should run much better.

And, that's not a "double pumper."  It has vacuum actuated secondaries.  It also has an Edelbrock high rise aluminum intake just as you thought.

To figure out carburetor size, there is a number stamped into the front of the carburetor's air horn (the roughly 4" x 2" rectangular vertical extension that houses the choke plate).  It should say "LIST" followed by a number.  What's the number?

This is the only numbers I could find. I googled it and it said it was a 750cfm

There isn't a number stamped on the air horn, roughly in the area of the left lower corner of the image you posted?

The trouble with numbers on metering blocks (i.e., 10569) is that metering blocks can be swapped.  You have a Holley model 4160, but the CFM can vary significantly between List calibrations.  750 CFM is the largest 4160.

Blown power valve on the metering block can cause poor idling. Super rich

As said before a good tune up would not be a bad idea. Take a look at the plugs you pull out. if they are black, & or sooty its getting to much fuel, or its running rich.
First thing I would do is get a reman quadrajet carb & put it on there.
