Title: What's involved with changing cab mounts?
Post by: SUX2BU99 on April 05, 2004, 01:05:00 pm
The 80 Silverado SB I am about to purchase apparently needs new cab mounts, of which the seller has. What's involved with replacing these? Can I do it myself or is this a welding, body shop job? Thanks.

You should be able to do it yourself.  It requires removing the body bolts.  You should do one side at a time.  You will need a jack to lift the body up to remove/replace the bushing.

Thanks Chris. So it's just a bolt-on job then? That's excellent if it is. I figured I can use my floor jack to help me support the cab while I do it but was afraid of replacing anything welded ($$$$).   Can you take a look at my new thread in the 73-87 forum? I'd like your opinion. THanks.
