Title: Wheel bearing doesn't fit on spindle
Post by: jumpkickyergunt on July 26, 2015, 02:48:54 pm
The inner bearing doesn't sit down onto the spindle and I need some suggestions on what to do. The bearing has an inner diameter of 2" which seems correct, but it's just the tiniest bit too small. Sadly I found this out after I was about to put the hub assembly back on. I've heard of this happening with federal and timkin bearings. Ive polished the spindle down and all that. Still no dice. Anyone else have this problem?

Do you have micrometers or at least a set of calipers?

what are you working on? with some bearing in the shop we have to put them in the freezer or fridge for some time. this will shrink them and heat will make things expand

So the website and the store had two different part numbers. I brought the spindle in to make sure the second set fit. Whats really annoying is that the website has the same inner diameter for both bearings, but obviously one is no good. Could've saved me a lot of time. Whatever, as long as it gets done.

Depending on years and what your working on... There are at least two types of spindles... #1) Inner and Outer bearings are small #2) Inner = Larger / Outer = Smaller
