I put a new stereo in my pickup, 76 K 20. Put in a Kenwood with all kinds of stuff (blue tooth, CD, Sirius, ect). It worked fine for 3 or 4 months for some reason it all of a sudden it started to studder ( for lack of a better term) when the engine is running. I returned the stereo and got a new one same thing. I even ran the positive and negative directly to the battery same thing. I'm at a loss what would be causing this? When the engine isn't running it plays perfect. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This wouldn't have anything to do with a faulty radio condenser (capacitor) would it?

Stutters while playing anything or just fm? If just fm check antenna at radio and mast or windshield. If all check ignition on wire to radio for shorts, possibly even speaker wires. My JVC resets if it detects any short even from speaker wires.

I have never been able to find a capacitor.

I cannot answer that as I never use anything but FM. Unit was sent back to Manufacture (Kenwood) for a check up.

Check all wires for breaks, make sure there are no screws touching speaker wires and no wires are pinched anywhere, mess with antenna at radio and see if it makes a difference.

If it where broke wires etc, why does it stop the instant the key is turned to shut it off?

There are 2 wires for power...1 constant hot and 1 switched. Check the switched, also make sure the switched and constant are hooked up correctly, it's fairly easy to cross them and wire switched from radio to a constant source and vice versa. As I stated before check your antenna connections and switched and constant power wires and sources.
