Title: Wing windows
Post by: Norwester on August 13, 2015, 11:14:21 am
I bought an '86 about a month ago and quickly found out that both wing windows are trash.  I picked up some extremely nice complete units but when I received them, I saw that they are for an '84.

What problems will I encounter, if any, because I know there are some differences.....like I've read the '84 has three screws on the top frame while the '86 has two screws.  Are those screw holes going to match up?

I bought some one piece window runs from LMS ....are they going to go into that '84 frame ok?

I do appreciate any guidance I can get

I can't tell you the quality of vendors fit and finish.  Starting in 1981 GM in an attempt to streamline their trucks lightened them up and one of the changes was the thickness of glass.  81-87 C/K and 88-91 R/V should all interchange.

I put a set from an 85 in my 86,  it's all the same 81-87 as zieg85 stated.

Have fun getting those vent windows out

This is the tech article in the Tech section I wrote on the Vent window Identification.

The 81-85 and the 85(86)-91 styles will swap.  You can technically put the 73-80 in there but you have to use a run channel for a 81-up.
