Title: Pulley Grooves - A/C Delete
Post by: harcorshe on August 25, 2015, 06:22:57 pm
1978 K20 454 TH400

The P.O. said the A/C hasn't worked in years, and after pricing replacement parts, I decided to ditch it. I have ordered the "A/C Delete" panel and I am trying to determine what else I can get rid of/clean up.

I have searched Google images and the Service Manual, but can't get a clear look at a Non-A/C pulley set up.

Can I go with a single groove pulley for the power steering pump? (Belt from crankshaft to P/S)

Still need a 2 groove water pump pulley? (Belt from crankshaft and Belt to alternator)

Can I go to a 2 groove crankshaft pulley?  (Belt to P/S and Belt to W/P).

Thanks for any help!!

Why not just remove the compressor, mount and the belt.

I guess I've become a little compulsive about cleaning up the engine bay in the process of changing out some of the accessories.

BTW, this is a hobby, and, of course you're right; I probably don't really need to do most of the stuff I (try) to do this truck. But it gives me hours of enjoyment!

Thanks!
