Title: Today's thought...
Post by: philo_beddoe on September 03, 2015, 08:46:40 am
I know there are other's, but can you imagine if guys like Zieg 85, Enaberif and Rich Weyand were your neighbors? You would have like the most perfect running truck on earth.

No fun in a perfect running truck.  If all of my trucks electrical quirks solved themselves I don't think I would know how to drive my truck anymore lol.  That being said I do feel like this is a little community and we all have our specialties.

Well don't forget we would also have to have Irish_Alley and across the street would be BD, Capt Kaos and Engineer. Throw in a few of the other veteran members and that would be a block I move onto in a heartbeat!

Just think about all of the tools and knowledge these guys have. I couldn't live around them as I don't know enough and have few tools myself. You guys believed that right? Well maybe the first part.

I do know the first tool I would borrow. "Hey Rich can I use your A/F meter for a couple of minutes?" I bet I would not be the only one either. :)

The only two tools that I don't have just yet is a plasma cutter and a 20 ton shop press. I plan on picking these up in the future.

even with as much as knowledge as these board members have we all are still learning. these trucks give us all at least one thing in common. while we may have other things but the one thing we all can relate to is the love we have for these trucks. i remember when i first joined i was amazed at the community they had and how they kept the board so friendly and family oriented. im sure other boards have just as much info if not more than what we have but i think its the family site that keeps us above the rest. but this is just my opinion and i have no facts to back it up lol 8)

Thanks, I appreciate the Cu-do's.  I enjoying helping out when I can, but learn way more than I help.  I have just had so many of these over the years you just can't help but pick up a few tidbits of knowledge buying and selling these gems over the years.  I hope to step up my efforts in my new location coming up.  I agree there is a mass amount of talent here.

How could i forget irish alley and capt kaos!  My bad.  Very impressive feed back, from the heart too.  I think i even got a little "misty" reading some of those.  Our common denominator is the trucks, they are a good hobby.  Imagine living on a block with all these truck gearheads (thats a comment) we all would have perfect trucks, but your right, i'm not sure i want a perfect truck, then what would we do? Gotta tinker!!  Last march i sold my f-350 and found a 77 bonanza, then i did a search for a chevy truck forum site, and here i am.  I grew up with chevy's, its good to be back!!  I am grateful for the wealth of knowledge i picked up here, Lord bless.

Well you guys pretty much covered it. I do love the family oriented part and how it keeps mouths clean and attitudes positive. Don't forget, our common love for the trucks has brought us a few things.

1 father and son type stories, whether it be father and son, grandpa and grandson, mother and son or daughter. Truck builds have been done in remembrance of those loved and lost. And that leads to the next point.

2 we have lots of family type folks here, father's, a few mothers, sons, daughters, young kids and older and wiser individuals

3 we have all walks of life here, police officers, fireman, lots of full time mechanics, farmers, business men, MILITARY. God bless the veterans!

4 I'm not sure how long this site has been around but ide imagine it started just here in the US. Now we have, multiple friends in England, Australia(I sorta belong here), I think we got 1 or 2 from Iran? New zealand I think too? all 50 states and Canada. We are multi-cultured. I'm not sure who else I'm forgetting.

5 a few members have shared their new additions to their families on this site. We have babies being shared because the people here are happy and excited to share their joy with the rest of us in a place that cares.

Truly a wonder place to be a member off.

LOL well I didn't expect to come into this thread and have it start that way.

I can thank my dad and his brother for showing me a lot of what I know today. Other than that its just a ton of reading and knowing how to do things properly.

I have learned a ton from this site among a couple of others but I'm also not scared to just grab a wrench and see what happens! That is where all the fun.

Oh and my truck is a constant work in progress and until I feel there is a point of showing it... I'm not going too..

This is the closest I can get to living next to anyone, so for now it will have to do.  Learning new things everyday...

I agree. I've seen some of the others. Name calling, trash talking, calling out the new guy for not using the search function. I get the fact that not everyone is mechanically inclined and also can't always afford to have every little problem diagnosed by a shop. I guess I just don't see the point of being hateful to someone looking for help. Just my. 02$. I appreciate the atmosphere and help I've gotten here and try when I can to pass it along.

Amen!
1. Yes, God bless our veterans who gave and are willing to give all.  We're blessed to be here in America working on our trucks, than dodging bullets in some forsaken land.

2. This is a good family site.  No course language or inappropriate comments.  There is plenty of that out there.

3. Does anyone know when this site DID get started and by who? How did it get started?

4. I was never a big forum person, always thought it was for weird social network chatroom people.  But i have come to realize there are a lot of family men with regular jobs and houses and mortgages just like me.   I like Irish Alley's avatar, amen.   And i like the fact that zieg told us his job. Cool!!   Me? I'm a federal officer, work for usda.   (Why do i feel like i'm in a circle at a support group meeting) ?  Lol!

Captkaos started or registered 10/20/2000 but the members started rolling in after 6/29/2001.  Click on the members tab and then click a heading "date registered"

The site URL 73-87chevytrucks.com was originally created by a friend of mine Matt Dingman in Sept 2000.
Previous to Sept 30th 2013, the forum was on EZBoard, from the time I purchased the site from Matt in September of 2003.
I started this new forum on that day but pulled all the old users from the old board to nothing would be lost.
My original ID on the EZBoard forum was roundeline.

My original site captkaoscustoms.com was started at the end of 1999, prior it was on a hosted prividers page.
I purchased this one from Matt as I was planning on expanding to sales and he was needing to get out of it.
The CKC naming in our Pillar pod part number is from CaptKaosCustoms...

Been playing with these trucks for 30 years give or take a few months. I still learn little things regularly about them.
The day you stop learning about everything, not just these trucks is the day you stop living a great life.
I have been a member here for, um, a long time!
Although there has been a few newbies that came here to be know it all's, or just be jerks, & yes I as well as a few others have locked horns with them. The other admins have always stood with me in resolving the problem, or banning the problem, one or the other.
I very much enjoy sharing what I know with others, be it on the site, or also in person.
I regret that I neglect this site from time to time. Life gets busy.

Way back when even Vile, & I were both a lot fresher to this group had a heated debate on a windshield installation. Capt. sat us down so to speak, & gave us the what for.  ;D
