Title: Killed my 700r4
Post by: Rustbucket86 on September 14, 2015, 06:42:57 pm
So I just recently took off the stock qjet and put on a 650 elderbrock. However, in the process of finishing up, I let the TV cable go unnoticed. I drove about 5 miles with it unhooked, then wrapped it through the spring until the next day when I could get the attachment for it on the new carb. So a total of 15-20 miles with the TV cable out of whack. However, on the way to the store to get the part, it quit shifting to 3rd gear and just slipped. Is it just because my cable is way out of line or have I burned out my 3-4 clutch?

Only one way to tell now.... Properly adjust the cable and see what it does, check fluid level as well

Probably burned clutches , that is how my truck came, according to Bill in truck he put 37 miles on it. The clutch packs were shot, itt would barely make it into gear and when it did get in gear it would slip terrible

I had the same thing but it was just hooked up incorrectly and I burned up 2-4 in a matter of 2 blocks so it really just depends. Like it was said earlier make sure it gets hooked up right check the fluid level and try it. I know in my case it I took it to the shop to get an estimate on a rebuild an it was in about $2,700. So I am putting a TH350 in it since it's not my daily driver and won't see much highway but a mile or few.
