Searched the threads, found a couple good ones with pictures about replacing inner-outer-cab corner-floorpans on the 73-87 truck but still had questions and did not wish to open up a post last posted in 2012...
I have outer cut off, good portion of inner cut off, was trying to align things to know how much more to cut and noticed a few issues.
Laying the inner onto the floor pan support I see the lip for the floor pan is ~1" higher than the rest of my floor pan still in truck, I was concerned as others in similar threads, that the floor pan brace and cab brace would not meet the new floor pan once installed, if this lip is 1" higher than stock floor.
Also outer rocker appears to need some trimming so it doesn't overlap the bottom door hinge, I could get rear to line up into inner cab corner and get correct gap for door but front of outer would need to be raised about 1/2" to achieve the same gap and that put it into the hinge area.
Common to have to cut the outer off in front to align properly? Metal is from AMD.
Wishing I would have bought what they called an outer floor pan instead now as my pan only had a couple deep pits that were less than 1/2 way through, just couldn't figure out the image they associated with it to know what this out floor pan actually was...
I am tempted to weld back in what I cut out as it is thicker than the pan I bought...
Will see if I can link a pic to describe what I refer to, but my current floor sits directly on the brace and if I weld on this inner rocker that lip is going to be the new bottom of the floor pan and it is clearly at least 1 inch offset unless I weld just that lip to the floor brace,,,

I guess what they called an inner rocker, AMD-440-4073-L was the outer rocker backing plate..
Part AMD-406-4073-L is the actual inner rocker but they call it "73-87 GM Pickup Cab Floor Outer Section - LH".
Now I have to wait almost another full week to get correct part and pay extra for shipping since I didn't have a over $99 order...
Unless I didn't hear the Summit rep speaking correctly, he either said $16.10 or $60.10...

This is the image and the position they showed their cab floor outer section, you can see why there is confusion, they need to rotate that image so it is in proper alignment as it would be installed, all their other pics are, this looked like it was some edge of the floor pan at this angle.

ill take some pics later, but I think what is causing confusion is how the panels are made and how they are supposed to join.
Factory the floor and inner rocker was one single stamped piece, rust repair panels made two pieces out of it so if just the inner rocker/outer floor section was rotten, you wouldn't need to replace the whole floor.
so on the inner rocker/outer floor, there is a what I call a double L, a flange on a flange so to speak. depending on the floor patch you bought(I'll assume the whole panel) part of that double L is already on the floor, so you nee to mate them by either layering the panels or cutting the flange of one or the other and weld flush, that flange is also where the outer rocker will sit when installed in the truck.
if you didn't quite follow, I will get some pics up later. or disregard if I misunderstood the dilemma

sorry for late reply, but here are some pics
a partial inner rocker tends to go more into the floor then the outer floor pan/inner rocker patch
but here we have a full floor, and full outer floor/inner rocker(not to be confused with partial inner rockers, that are commonly just called inner rockers)
I am pointing to the lip that should be the same if it was manufactured as a single piece, not two pieces

here I lied them atop each other so you can see how they are supposed to mate

and the under side of an unmolested passenger floor/inner rocker

if you would like me too, I can try to get better pictures, otherwise you can look into my thread I should(hopefully) be doing pictures that will document it well

Where he is pointing the outer rocker sits on top of that section.
I would not recommend making that section three layers thick though. Need to trim off that strip from I would say the inner rocker, not the floor section.
