So long story short, I spent good money on some nice wheels that came off a caprice and they don't fit my 77 big 10. Hubs are larger on the big 10 apparently.
What can I do to make these work? Or atleast opinions.
1. Have wheel hubs machined to fit
2. Spacers may do the trick, but hard to find hub centric that changes size.
3. Resell (don't want to if I can help it)
-
If the lug pattern is the same the center can certainly be machined. I almost did this for a set of early 90's k15 wheels bc I looked the way they looked mocked in place. B T I found the aluminum Mikey's for 120 on cl and got them instead. I've seen 2 people open the hub centers themselves and had no problem but tool control and heat input are critical.

Some guys will stack a couple of hole saws on the hole saw arbor, so one saw references the existing hole, and the other (larger) one cuts the hole bigger.
This keeps you reasonably centered, but the wheels will no longer be "hub-centric" when you're done. That may or may not be a problem.

Yeah I'd like to keep them hubcentric just to keep all possible strength. I still use the truck as a truck. Iv been woundering if the best thing to do is just have the wheels milled to a nice tight fit. I worry the baxk spacing isn't going to be 100% in my favor so this would atleast allow me to find hub centric spacers easily if need be

What year Caprice did the rims come from? Unless they are aftermarket all big bolt GM rims should fit our 5 on 5 C10. Any pictures?

That's a screen shot of the original craigs ad. The pic I saw of the wheels on a car was just the front clip, it was a round car and not the square of the early 80.

Those rims are for a FWD car with that offset

I'm curious what they fit. 5x5 bolt pattern with 1" back spacing. Not even enough back spacing for my saturn vue

They look aftermarket anyways.
