I have a 1977 c10  1/2 ton a was looking for information on what other factory rear end with posi traction could be swapped in with no problem any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

you want to swap rear ends or just the gears? a full swap would be cheaper i think. but what rear do you have now?(take a picture if you dont know)

12 bolt half ton 5 lug  WHOLE rear end would be fine

Only thing that's a bolt in would be from another square body
Hard to find
The back axle is way too weak for a half ton
In the junkyards all the back axles are
Missing

anything from 73-81 C10's with a 12bolt is a bolt in, anything 78-87 C10's is a bolt in but you have to use a hybrid u-joint.

I searched high and low for a decent 12-bolt for mine - they were all junk.  I ended up coughing up the dough for a full-on rebuild of mine, with a TrueTrac diff. 

Hard to find a decent anything that last rolled off the assembly line in 981.

14 bolts are easy to find
They are strong
10 and 12 bolts are typical weak GM cost cutting junk that had no business under a full size pickup
