Title: SM465 Clunking Noise
Post by: oldblue76 on September 30, 2015, 04:02:54 pm
I have a 1976 Chevy K10 w/ 350 and a SM465 transmission. I have a clunking noise when I'm in 3rd gear driving down the road. When I let off the gas there is a clunking noise and then when I push the gas again. The U-joints are fine the the noise is coming from the transmission area. I assume it's the transmission, any suggestions on how to fix it?

Just 3rd. And I would have to look at the mount

3rd is a very notorious gear to start failing in a SM465. Might need a rebuild.
