Title: Th350 to 700r4 question
Post by: TheFiendKD on October 01, 2015, 01:11:35 pm
Howdy y'all,
So I fried the th350 in my 77 k10 with 350 and a np203, I plan to rebuild it when money allows. Luckily I managed to get a 96 gmc 1500 4wd to use as a daily driver and focus on my 77 as a restorod.

I have a buddy selling my a 700r4 out of a 94 2wd 1500. My question is since the trans is a 2wd will I have to do anything special to mate to the 203? I know I will have to move some cross members around a get a shorter drive shaft. Would I also need a longer front drive shaft?
Thanks for any input, or if somebody could point me in the right direction.

The 1994 Truck will have a 4L60E which is electronically shifted, it won't be a direct swap without a controller.

Also changing a 2WD transmission to 4WD requires completely tearing down the transmission to replace the tail shaft

You are looking for anything from 1987-1992 for a 700R4/4l60.  1993 was iffy as that was the first year of the 4L60E.

Yeah it's actually a 93 but still the first year of the 4l60e I think. Well then I might just flip it then. Any recommendations on a th350 rebuild kit? Or should I try to finds a 700r4? I do mostly highways speeds I do about 18  highway miles a day. With 3.73s and 28s and possibly 31s or 33s.

I'm not sure what year the 700 came out

My 82 2wd 6.2 diesel has one
No computer.  No TV cable either I don't think

If you wind up with a Trans that has a TV cable
Do NOT drive the truck until it's adjusted properly

Roundhouse, the TV on a diesel runs under the intake.  It will have one if a 700R4 is behind it.
