So you ever do something you've done a million times and realize something you've never seen before? This is what I found today while I was preparing the undercarriage for some winterizing. I've been unter this truck thousands of times for probably the same amount of hours and never no iced a factory lighted license plate bracket. Ever had this happen to you?

Yeah I have actually! It's funny how that works sometimes. In fact, I have the same light bracket on my truck! It's also an 87 like yours. It confirms to me that my truck was shipped from the factory without a rear bumper and the step bumper I have on it is indeed an aftermarket that's been on it for a long time! I even disconnected my wiring from the license plate light on the step bumper and plugged it into the factory pigtail on the bracket, and what do you know? The original light lit up! I was amazed! Lol!

I have 4 square body trucks. One since brand new. All had rear bumpers and all have this under the left rear corner of the bed. The light harness is there for them too but unplugged.
