Does anyone know if you a rear end out of a 1995 Impala with posi would swap out with the stock rear end out of my 1985 stepside ?

It's a smaller unit and designed to work with coil springs. Why do you want to swap the rear end?

It is and 8.5 like the 81-87 1/2T trucks.  I think (if memory serves me right) that they are slightly narrower.

I'm pretty sure they were all highway geared too.

Yes, 2.56 for non Impala SS and 3.08 for the SS.
30 spline axles and the SS had a limted slip factory.

I swapped one into my 79. Cut off the perches and welded on new ones to flip the axle.   Swapped in 3.73s a buddy had and a true trac and it runs great.  Had to run. 2" spacer but if you want larger tires you could just get larger rims
