Title: Electric fan for 4 core stock radiator?
Post by: Funkatation on October 10, 2015, 02:41:57 pm
I need some ideas for a very easy install for an electric fan system to go with my stock 4 core radiator for my big block. I got my serpentine setup and and it has no provision for a mechanical fan. Oops!

I've seen a few threads on wind star fans, etc, but not sure all that's needed. I don't have a whole lot of time to get something together and bolt on is preferred vs dabbing something up.  Anyone do something similar and have a parts list they used?

Thanks!

What year is the truck? Why is there no provision for a mechanical fan? It bolts to the waterpump pulley

Found a windstar assembly with wiring for $125. I went with this and didn't see how I could use a mechanical fan. (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/10/2e7ef579fa9e097b56420fe373e2a8ad.jpg)

I used a dual fan setup off a Windstar that I picked up at the wreckers.

Ran it off a recall relay from a Sunfire/Cavalier (they have a heavy duty relay added for for the starter, easy to find and plentiful).

It's switched by a fan switch from a 1990 Ford Escort - threads right into the head and maintains perfect temp.

I am running a PermaCool on mine.  The Blazer that is getting a LS will have this same setup.
