Post by: crazedhick3 on January 06, 2005, 06:27:00 pm
Are the doors and fenders on the 73-80 the same as the 81-87?

Did you see the ones Roundedline has on this site? In the online catalogue link on the homepage.
You might ask in the Body topic.

in terms of trucks than yes doors are all pretty much the same....fenders however are not. 81-87 chev's have the front end changed. In terms of blazers 76-92 are the same and 73-75 are different because of the full tops instead of halfcabs

The doors will interchange but there are some differences. The vent windows will swap back and forth but the glass has a different shape at the top and the newer ones lock. The holes for the interior panel are different. If I remember correctly the mounting holes for the regulator are a little different as well.

Doors are split 73-76 for the early non-power design, and 77-91 for the power design. The outside skin is the same, inside is different.  Stalks for the manual doors are longer on the 77-91 and they have provisions for the power motor.  If you get a complete door with all the hardware installed for a donor it will bolt to any truck.  If you start mis-matching you run into problems.

Fenders are split 73-80 and 81-91.  Unless you get a complete front clip fenders will not swap.  73-80 clips will bolt to any model without modification, BUT 81-91 clips will only bolt to 81-91's.  To get the newer clip on the 73-80 you must cut the cowl area so the newer style hinges will bolt up/mount
