Title: Tilt steering wheel
Post by: Will84K10 on October 30, 2015, 07:36:33 pm
1984 K10 with tilt steering wheel. When I push upwards on the bottom of the steering wheel it has a lot of play/slop . Is this the dreaded 4 bolts without locktite issue? Figured I'd ask before starting the whole steering column disassembly. Thanks.

If the column remains rigid in the dash and only the steering wheel and upper column housing are loose, then yes.   How-To: Fixing a Sloppy GM Tilt Column (http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=12525.msg94796#msg94796)

Yes.  More so, the first time through.  The Torx drivers and three special tools (steering wheel puller, lock plate depressor, and pivot pin remover) make the job considerably easier.
