Title: 1986 C10 with 17" wheels
Post by: Joker84 on November 11, 2015, 09:14:17 am
Hello all,

Brand new to the site...hope to get some good info/advice here from everyone.  I have an 86' C10 2WD, standard cab with long bed. Truck has been in my family since brand new.  I'm recently starting to fix it up and am going to put new wheels/tires on it first.  I'm looking @ Torq Thrust 2 wheels in 17x8 size and am planning on running Nitto NT 450 Performance tires in 275/50R17.  The truck is stock everything as of now,but I do plan on a drop of maybe 2" front and 4.5" rear as well as crate motor and trans...  Should I worry about any rubbing on front end or am I good running this setup?  Any advice would be appreciated.

I doubt a 275/70R17 would work...prob too beefy.

Probably not when lowered.
Stock C20's equipped with 16's came with 235/85/16's, which are about the same diameter as 275/70/17's. Some people switch them for 265/75/16's without issue, they're just a hair under the size of a 275/70/17.
Since his is a C10, it'd depend a lot on where the right height is and wheel offset.

He said 275/50r17 not 275/70r17...but anyway, I'm running 275/55r17 on mine and have no issues and room to spare on 17x9 American racing atx artillery wheels running 4.5" bs, they'd sit perfectly just inside the lip if my truck were lowered. 275/55r17 is roughly 28.9" tall, whereas 275/50r17 is roughly 27.8" tall.
