Im planning on getting my 1978 C20 resprayed soon right now its holly and seamist green, i have it almost stripped down and primed completely to cut down on costs, i was wondering how much extra it would be cost to get a two tone over a solid color, Im trying to get it sprayed medium blue and frost white, I know materials are already going to be around 12-1500.

two tone is indeed more expensive, because it adds like a whole day to paint one color, then mask and do the next color
it sounds like your outsourcing the painting itself, so ask the paint shop. are you planning just medium blue if two tone is too much cost?
I guess the two tone scheme style will make even more difference in cost too

Me too. That 76 bonanza is pretty close to my dream truck right there. I'm all about original everything on a truck, I don't care about extra horse power or none of the modern crap, I like original trucks the way they came built original. I dream of having a truck like that one one day.

Yup, EXACTLY!!! I dont believe in chrome under the hood, lifting or lowering the suspension. Its okay to change a few things as long as the factory offered as an option. Restoring to factory can be an expensive challenge.

funny, my philosophy on cars is close to this, but I have a year cutoff anything before 1980-all stock or factory options(safety upgrades allowed-seat belts, dual circuit brakes, maybe engine to diesel but that's it) after 1980 it kind of depends I feel a lot of the "class" of the car world started to diminish

The 1980's were a horrible decade for cars. The trucks were fine, chevy dodge and ford. The camaro, mustang, corvette, charger, ect, ect...all lame! (No offense to anyone that owns the above mentioned cars)

Oh, the only car that was acceptabe was the buick grand national, 1986. I remember seing them at the dealers, i think they are worth six figures today.

I'm fond of the factory look, especially green trucks and really like the two tone green on your C-20. Both of mine have two tone, but just the top of the cab is the second color. The cost for painting that portion was negligible.
Just my opinion - I'm not partial to color changes unless it is a complete job inside and out (outer paint matches inner paint). Restoring to factory (or factory look) and color can get expensive, but it can also keep the truck very unique.

Yeah, ever notice of ALL the photos whether on this forum or any site or even car shows and cruise nights, it is extremely rare to see a 73-87 100% factory truck? It is very difficult to get that look. (Of course no offense to anyone with a custome chevy, because many are)

I'd go two-tone all the way. Never even a choice for me. Two-tone looks awesome. I wish they still painted them like that on the new stuff today. One solid color is too drab and boring in my opinion. Just my two cents.

Deluxe two-tone on the '73~'80. IMHO, solids look yuck on the '73~'80.
Now '81~'87('91) can be either but with some color restrictions. Any solid looks good on a 81~87(91). Two tones are a little harder to pull off. Black over charcoal like some 89~91 Blazers is awesome. Dark blue over white, yepper. Light blue over silver or white. Ok. Red over white, yeah.
Tan ONLY if it is solid. The ugliest trucks on the road are tan and red two tone. Followed by tan and white. As bad is tan and black. If you must do a tan two tone use gold as the primary and tan as the accent.
To summarize, 81~87s look best in solid paint. (See my build thread) 73~80s in the deluxe two tone.

My 87 is the deluxe two tone. Light Blue Metallic on the top, bottom, and inside; Frost White in the middle. I love it and think it looks great! I've always been partial to the two tone paint schemes on these trucks regardless of model year! My dad had an 82 K20 that I grew up with that was two tone copper metallic with tan on the roof and below the trim molding. I love that color combination! I say go two tone all the way!
