I'm new to the forum, but not new to the trucks, although this is my first 2WD. I picked it up on a recent trip down south (I'm from Michigan) with the intention of flipping it. I kinda dig it though, so I'm realy thinking of keeping to to haul things around and run parts for my project 75 F100 4x4.
I'm already way too deep into that one, so here I'm just focusing on making it reliable and comfortable. I drove it from Little Rock to Ft Smith, then to Dallas, then back home to Central Michigan lol, so it's pretty reliable now.
When I bought it, it had a 400/TH350/12 bolt with 3.08 gears. Previous owner had poorly rattle canned it to get it all one color or something, said the motor was fresh, idk. It had a 750 Edelbrock with no choke, a bypassed heater core, no taillights, super dim headlights, a windshield cracked all to heck, but was basically sound and decent.
I swapped the Edelbrock to a Quickfuel 600, couldn't be happier with that. I wired trailer lights up for tail lights in the parking lot of my hotel, to get home, need to address that still. I've replaced the door pins on both sides, strikers are en route. Today I pulled the heater box out and pulled the flooring up to get it ready for some Chassis Saver paint. The driver's side, will need a patch panel. They also screwed a piece of galvanized in there and cut it for the lip that the weather strip attaches too... So I think I'll need at least part of a outer rocker as well. I don't have a cowl screen, and I believe I have an earlier hood, as it doesn't fit quite right.
Anyway, here's some pics!

Welcome from Kansas!

Welcome from California. You have quite the project there! As for the hood, I think all 73-80 hoods are same when it comes to mounting and fit. The only difference is the 79-80 models had a small body line across the front leading edge of the hood. So if it's not fitting right, something has to be not adjusted right or out of wack.

Well it doesn't have the rubber baby buggy bumpers in front, so I know that's wrong.
But it also curves in before the headlight bezel does, that curve doesn't match. Maybe they're all like that and I just never noticed before. I'll have to get a pic tomorrow.

my first thought was aftermarket hood- just by looking at the pic, 73 to 80 should have all the same hood, in 81 with the cowl change, the hood changed

Nice truck .my favorite body style right there

Could be, the PO said he got it off a Blazer, but who knows. It also has a hole in the floor, just below the steering column with a grommet, that doesn't have anything in it. I wonder if it was a column shift originally?

I have a pair of floor pans and a rocker ordered from Tabco, in the meantime I've been rearranging my garage to pull it in and installing my hanging furnace and getting my 60 gallon compressor moved and re-plumbed

This also showed up today, surprised the heck out of me to see the USPS on my porch lol. It'll help with pulling the bed I'm sure.
