Title: 86 C10 2wd- replacing crossmember with C30- Can i retain 5 lug?
Post by: Steeda on December 01, 2015, 11:27:52 pm
Hey all, first post here-

My cross member in my 86 C10 is junk, rotted with holes in it.  I have a local guy who has cross members from c20's and c30's.  I know i can swap the crossmember in, but i'd like to keep the 5X5 lug pattern- and from what i read there is a ball-joint and spindle problem when using c20 arms.  The C10 arms wont fit on a c20 crossmember. and the C10 Spindles wont fit on a C20 Arm.

Has anyone done this?  Non -Rotted crossmembers are in short supply for c10's it seems.  Is the information I have gathered so far correct??

The actual crossmember is the same, are you saying your control arms are bad?
I used to buy them and chop them a little ways back before Porterbuilt came along.  I wouldn't say they are in short supply, but I haven't needed on in a while.
