Are the van bumpers the same for 73-87 as the trucks?
Ive been searching for an original plain chrome rear bumper(NOT a step bumper) for my '76 C15 Sierra. It must be original GM with correct bracketry.
Thanks much!

Well i dont know about the vans, but those stinkin blazers are different! I found out the hard way!! (no offense to blazer owners)
I just ordered a plain rear chrome from the site store, should be here tomorrow, gonna wait by the mailbox!
-
I REALLY want an original with brackets. ANY help is greatly appreciated.
Good to know about the Blazers
-
An original??!! You may only find a ball of rust, or you'll end up paying through the nose.
I think the site store gets all their parts from the General Motors factory in Detroit, MI.
-
Bumper was at the back door when i got home. Its cold and dark out, have to wait till morning.

Anyway, this bumper is heavy duty, real quality chrome, and back was treated with anti-rust stuff.
Will have trouble sleeping tonight. The box it came in had a blue square stamp on it with GM letters. Made in Detroit, MI. Not sure what that means but oh well.

Did it come with the license plate mount as you have it pictured?
-
Lets see that box it came in

Ditto!

No, the plate braket i had from the other stupid bumper. Cleaned, primered and painted gm gray and put a new lamp assy in it and new stainless screws, nuts and bolts.
The GM bumper box is ummm, well ya see here's the thing--either dog ate it or my kids wrecked it or wife tossed it out. Yeah, yeah that's it.
-
So, is it a GM part or not???

You can email capt caos and he can answer this for you too. I believe it's webmaster@73-87chevytrucks.com. I've emailed him And he responded quickly And answered all my questions.

Ok, ok, no-its not oem. But i'll tell ya, this bumper is of real quality. Not cheapy-china. Much heavier than the oem blazer one. Quality chrome, the real test is how it installs. First thing in the morning, we'll know.

Perfect fit.

Looks nice but like I thought, they are made overseas.
I want a real genuine GM bumper.
-
Yes, join the list. I've been looking for a long time. I've seen a couple painted but none chrome Gm new.
Best price on repop was from Carid. Com made by AMD. It's made very well. Still in the box sitting in the garage.
I've got a repop on the front of my blazer from Goodmark for 14 years now and looks like first day, it has spent the last 12 years parked indoors when at rest.

Todays name brand products made overseas are held to much higher standers than years ago. I speak the truth when i tell you this bumper i got from the capt. is a heavier grade high quality steel. About 10 lbs heavier than that oem blazer one. Believe me, most of what i wear and use is made in usa. I am not paying 200 bucks for an oem bumper. Or settling for a junky junkyard oem bumper. It would be different if the dealer still sold them.
-
SOMEONE MUST have one!! I can't be installing a new rear bumper on an original paint 76 GMC!
My truck is completely rust free but has that nice patina
-
Wait, is this for the 60 apache? No, i guess the 76 gmc. As stated.
-
You could always get a used one and have it straightened and rechromed as needed.
Anyone with a nos rear bumper is going to want big dollars.
-
I agree with blazer, nos means $$$
-
Yes. For my '76 GMC C15.
I don't want an NOS one. I want a decent to nice used one with brackets if possible.
-
You'll find one, could take a while. If i come across one i'll let ya know.
-
Thanks much. I have a decent step bumper on it now I will sell.
-
The bumpers I sell are made over seas and comes from Key Parts. The Blazer bumper IS the same as a pickup. The brackets are NOT the same though.
-
Gotcha. Thank you Chris.
-
That is obviously correct, Blazer bumper the same. Brackets are way different. I have a mint blazer bumper and brackets. Wouldnt work on my 77 c-10. Learned the hard way, but learned well.
All i can do is sell the blazer bumper and brackets now that i got the right bumper from the site store. And a real quality bumper too. I'm impressed, being overseas and all.
-
Wait!! 81-87 blazer ....waaaayy different!!
-
Thanks for the call Dave. Hopefully I can find a GM one sooner than later.
-
Well, you know i'm a stickler when it comes to factory stock. But we do what we can. Sometimes ya gotta bend just a little. The bumper chris sells are real heavy quality.
