Would anyone know where i can find a diagram or pics of heat shield placement on the engine?
This would be specifically for a 4.3 v-6 in an 85 and up chassis.
i may have thrown mine away thinking it was just "emissions crap" that i didn't need, but now i think i need them.

this is all I have left as far as 4.3 pictures

Thanks.
i think i will be ok---i thought i was having heat soak problems with the starter, but it turns out the small wire is not on tight.

On second thought, no------the solenoid is only about 1.5" away from the exhaust manifold. Now, the manifold itself does have a sheet metal shield attached around it---probably to protect the plugs/plug wires too. But i don't know if this is adequate to also shield the starter solenoid from heat?
i wonder if a service manual might show the positions of the heat shield(s)?
i did get all the wires to the starter nice and tight, but i won't know if that will solve the hard hot start problem until the new carb arrives.
Also i wonder if v-8's are set up the same way with the pass side manifold that close to the starter solenoid?

It if turns out to be a problem, i think i will just get one of those custom heat shields such as:

OR

However, if anyone has any diagrams or pics, please post them.

Bear in mind that what you are trying to block is radiative heat, the infrared light radiating off the manifolds that is absorbed by and heats up anything it hits. All a heat shield has to do is block the sight line from the hot part to the protected part.

Ok, good to know.
