Title: check engine light does not work
Post by: NCali on December 12, 2015, 09:47:59 pm
87 2wd 1/2 ton 305 tbi

I checked the timing today and as per instructions , I disconnected the EST connector before I started.  Disconnecting that plug  should have been reason enough for thecheck light to come on[/It did not
I plug the connector back together and the light didnt even come on when the key switch was  turned to the on positiom

I tried to jump  the connector under the dash  and that didnt work either
The ecm and ignition fuses look good, are there any other fuses or links that power up the computer?

Have you removed the dash bezel housing with the check engine light in it and checked the bulb? Maybe the bulb is burnt out, if my SES lite stopped working, the first thing I would check would be the bulb.

yes if the light doesnt light up when you turn the ignition "on" then suspect a burnt bulb
