I have read through the prior posts, but not found exactly the same issue.
I have a 1986 Chevy Suburban C20 3/4 ton with power windows / doors. The rear power window will go up and down most of the time, but occasionally the window will refuse to go up. I open and close the tailgate several times (checking to make sure that it's closed properly) and eventually it works, but this is taking longer and longer. Any ideas where to start looking for the problem?

There is a switch on the left latch that can go bad. Prevents you from closing the window if the tailgate is not latched.
One of the possibilities. Otherwise bad connections, poor ground, motor going bad.
Some including myself remove the connector from the switch and jumper the connector, forget about the switch.

Thanks!
The switch on the left hatch, is it accessible while the window is down or will I have to take the entire gate apart? I'm sorry if it's a terrible question; I'm a novice, trying to learn as I go...

Suburban is on the passenger side latch, had it mixed up with the blazer tailgate.
You can see it from the outside thru the latch hole with the tailgate open. You can reach the connector with long pliers and pull the connector out if your carefully not to drop it. Jump the connector and the window should run
But to get to the switch the window must be up and supported with the gate open.
You cannot get the inside cover off if the gate is closed due to the interior trim panels unless you cut them away from the screws.
